A four year volleyball letter winner from De La Salle High School in Concord California, Tommy went on to play at Loyola Marymount where he was an outside hitter. He was also a member of the 1994 USA Volleyball Junior National Team and the 1995 USA Volleyball Olympic Festival team. He played professionally in Europe for 2 season before returning to the United States and coaching at De La Salle High School, Miramonte High School and UC Berkeley.

Tommy is married and currently lives in Reno.
