Your contribution to Silver State Youth Sports will allow us to offer the opportunity to participate in the Capital City Volleyball Club to girls who otherwise can not afford it.

Girls who participate in team sports have higher self esteem and pride in themselves. Research also suggests that girls whom participate in sports are more likely to experience academic success and graduate from high school than those who do not play sports.

Sports are where girls can learn goal-setting, strategic thinking and the pursuit of excellence in performance and other achievement-oriented behaviors, critical skills necessary for success in the workplace.

  • Teenage female athletes are less than half as likely to get pregnant than non-athletes (5 percent and 11 percent respectively).
  • Physical activity appears to decrease the initiation of cigarette smoking in adolescent girls.
  • Research suggests that physical activity is an effective tool for reducing the symptoms of stress and depression among girls.
  • Playing sports teaches math skills and help girls develop leadership skills.
  • Playing sports teaches girls how to take risks and be aggressive.
  • Girls and women who play sports have a more positive body image than girls and women who don't participate.

Your contribution will allow us to continue to offer programs that will get girls ages 8 to 18 involved in the great sport of volleyball. Silver State is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
